Sakai Takayuki is without doubt one of the most prominent Japanese blacksmith with over 600 years of history. Based in Sakai, Osaka Prefucture the technology and method used to create these beautiful pieces remains unchanged, and true to the traditions of the blacksmith.

Those traditions lead to amazing knives, and this Blue Steel No.2 steel Homura leads the pack. It has a soft iron cladding which is applied in the san-mai style. An excuisitely made knife of the highest construction quality and impeccable attention to detail. 

Kogetsu is a Gyuto style blade with a more curved profile, fantastic for butchery and meat work. 

Due to the carbon steel blade and iron cladding the knife will corrode if not cared for well. The knife must be kept clean and dry.

The handle is made of Yew in traditional octagonal shape with a buffalo horn ferule at the blade end.
