Shapton Pro stones are authentic Japanese ceramic whetstones of a very high standard. The material used in these stones and the construction process produces an evenly balanced stone with a uniform structure throughout, meaning an even surface for a accurate sharpening performance on any part of the stone.
The plastic case is also a non-slip sharpening stand. Shapton Pro is also known as Shapton Ha-No-Kuromaku. All these stones are 210mm x 70mm x 15mm.
The range of Shapton Pro stones covers:
Course: 120, 220, 320, Medium: 1000, 1500, 2000, Fine: 5000, 8000, Super Fine: 12000
Use & Precaution
This stone does not require soaking. Sprinkle a little water only when sharpening. As a general rule, never soak stones with #3000 grits and higher in the water. After use, let the stone dry thoroughly. Returning a stone into its box while still wet or damp will result in moulding and might decrease in quality.
